Just purchased this film comes on 4X600ft spools
Stars David niven françoise dorleac directed by
Val guest just wondering has anybody seen this
Optical feature before has slight fade but very
Good sound and I think complete no cuts

I've seen the film Thomas, many years ago, but not on S/8, well

This is a very great curiosity to me! Until now, I have always thought that Super 8 optical sound only came out in 67 or 68.

Now, I do know that re-issues to the movie theater would be released on super 8 optical (such as "Never So Few", 1959, to cash in on Steve McQueen's popularity), but this is most interesting!

Hello OSI although this film was released in the cinemas in 1965 I suppose prints of this film could have been made available for the airlines much later I.e the 70s ?

That is a possibility, or, super 8 optical did acvtually appear in 65, which raises hopes for me as, there were some great movies that came out between 65 and 68!

A forum member on here, once had a super 8 optical sound print of Disney's "The Jungle Book" and I myself own a print of "Point Blank" (Lee Marvin, 67), so, the earlier the print, the cooler in my opinion! Would love to see some screenshots if your ever able to do so!

One thing I have noticed is that the image quality of the super 8 optical prints varied highly until 1970 for some companies, and MGM's super 8 optical sounbd prints really sucked until the mid 70's.

Another curiosity about that is that MGM actually released they're features for the super 8 optical market with a short subject, usually "A Pete Smith Special" (sahorts from the 1950's), but while the short would have an extremely good pin sharp image, the following feature, brand new from the 70's, would have a very grainly terrible picture.

Yes well done. Think it was one I was looking at. Was it from 'Classic Movie Studios'?

Quite a gentle story, but also ways like films with David Niven in them.

I myself have prints of "King of Kings" & "The Yellow Rolls Royce"
on Super 8 opt., pre 70's films. Both films are sharp in picture but are fading, which a light yellow gel rectifies. Sound on both is
exemplary, as was the sound on "Ben hur", sold to Derann, which
they had on their lists for £1000.00, then remedied to £100.00
they paid me £30.00 trade in.Gods good.If you're wondering....
where's Derann?
