I have got a nice Yelco DS-800 projector that is Super 8 mm and I want to transform into a regular 8 mm projector. Would you help me to find the wheels I need and which ones do I have to change. Thanks for your help.

WOW! That's a tall order. Is this even possible?

Possible?

-they say if you had enough money you could fix the Titanic.

This wouldn't be anywhere near that bad, but it's a little too close.

I looked the machine up here:

http://www.super8data.com/database/projectors_list/projectors_yelco/projectors_yelco.htm

-and it looks to me like this is a Super-8 only machine.

This means

-The gate aperture is the wrong size
-the claw is the wrong shape
-The sprockets are the wrong shape.
-The distance between the gate and the sound heads is wrong (only matters if your R8 films are sound ones)

(What else did I forget???)

So we're looking at a pretty complex conversion here.

The good news is it looks like a pretty nice machine. I'm curious how it stacks up against Eumigs and Elmos of similar specs.

Steve,

Yelco made fine projectors, I prefer them to the Eumigs. I own two Yelco, the silent and I mean silent P111Q, perhaps the best dual projector I have ever owned and the sound DS810MT.

I am in love with the Elmos so I wouldn’t compare them. [Wink]

Manuel, would you consider a trade for an excellent regular 8 projector?
