Any difference between the 200’ and the 400’ versions? I see the 400’ version was also available in a really nice clamshell case, too. Too bad all of their 400’ers didn’t come packaged that way. Columbia’s boxes were always on the cruddy side - the corners and the sides always tore very easily.

Brad,

I remember the 200' version being more of a highlights reel than an attempt to tell the story. Columbia started with the generic box and then put some of their earlier releases in new clamshells. I've never seen the clamshell for this one. Could you post a scan if you have it?

Hi Brad,

I can't speak to this film, since I only own the 400' version. However, when I attempted to combine scenes from the 200' reel of Columbia's "Born Free" to the 400' digest, I realized that two different narrators were used, therefore it is more distracting than usual to be bombarded throughout my new edit with not one, but two Columbia narrators interrupting the action as often as possible. Lol! (This also is the case with "Twenty Million Miles to Earth" which features different narrators on the 200' and 400' versions).

Wow that's a new twist.....as if one narrator wasn't bad enough! [Smile]

I have the 200' and I think I briefly used to have a 400'. If I remember rightly, there's isn't a lot of overlap between the two. I should 'warn' that the editing of the 200' seems to be a gratuitous attempt to fill it with scenes of glamorous ladies revealing a lot of bare flesh!

Doug, every time I try to upload an image to post it always tells me my password is wrong yet my password signs me into the site just fine. This is why I resist trying to post images here. I’m going to e-maill them to you and if you would kindly post them here for me. For years this has been an ongoing issue for me. I just don’t get why it won’t accept my log in info on the upload page for this site. I’ve often wanted to show screen shots, but I get so damned frustrated.

Hi Brad,

I logged in as you and was able to upload the scans you kindly sent me.

My suggestion would be to log in manually on the upload page as opposed to using either a browser auto log in or copying/pasting password info. For some reason these can cause difficulties.

Doug

Or maybe I'm just a dodo. Doug, thank you. You're the best!
