I have 3 of them.They were all problem children.Belt issues,threading issues,generally a waste of time.

Yes.. back in the late 70s the SM8 was my first Super8 projector and had no problems with it. I consider it a very nice projector and used it for striping "The Rexette" and recording home movies, even ran my first new Ken films "Star Wars" through it heaps of times, [Roll Eyes] it will take the Bolex 800ft reel as well "not the Elmo 800ft" and has a gate that is real easy to clean, in later years I sold it however I did hear of belt/speed problems with them and at a guess that might be down to what type of alternative belt "material wise used" all I can add is that if one was to come my way again in good condition at the right price I would grab it. Graham.

Thanks guys -- wasn't looking to buy one but I was intrigued because Bolex usually equals high quality, and this took an 800 foot reel.
