I found that the most frequent problem for Sankyo projectors is motor slip (where the motor is turning but the cannot move all gears). If I found slip, sometimes it will resume to normal by turning the motor to the reverse position and play forward again.

But sometimes it does not cure at all.

What make this thing to happen? Do you find that your Sankyo is also easy to get motor slip?

Any similar problem to Elmo series?

cheers,

Hi Winbert

I had the same problem on a Sankyo 700,my problem was that the grease under the gears and in the centre holes had turned hard with age,i removed them and cleaned off the old grease from everything i could find and applyed new White Lithium based grease and a new belt and all was fine after that.

I still an extra motor for the Sankyo's in a box as these motors get weak after afew decades.

Even though i sold my projector in the end for an ELMO,in away wished i hadnt,i love the ELMO but i,ve had more problems with it then with the Sankyo, the Sankyo 700 never let me down in all the years i owned it and was the most kind projector i had ever owned on the films i ran.

Also check the pully on the end of the motor shaft, these always look fine, but you sometimes need to tighten up the locking screw, this can run good as gold but underload can slip, reversing the motor can fix it so it grips the shaft so in forwad it works fine again, but does little to solve the problem.

Did you say that no matter it is brand new or used, Sankyo's motors will get weak because of the time?

cheers,

It was bought from damaged new old stock,so it is near new,had never been used apart from in the shop before it was dropped on the floor.

I bought it and stripped for parts,so if i ever needed them for my projector i had them already handy, but never needed to them so there is in box's.

But since i,ve sold my Sankyo, its just sitting here.

And yes, like most high end projectors(GS-1200 ELMO etc),there motors get weak over time, thats why i keeped an extra one, just in case i needed it,but i no longer do.
