Hello Group: I've got a mint Bell & Howell Filmo Diplomat 16mm. When I run a film, the take-up reel seems to spin faster than the film is fed through the sprockets. It pulls the upper and lower loop out and tightens onto the take-up reel. If I remove the take-up reel from the spindle and run the film, it runs through just fine. Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? I'm posting here and in the 16mm area. Thanks in advance.

Could it be that the clutch on the takup spindle is too tight (or maybe frozen) and instead of allowing the reel to go at the speed the film allows, it's trying for the speed of the drive instead?

That's possible. I'm not sure how to test that or fix it if it is the problem. The only clutch I am aware of is the main one that the user can engage to advance the film.
