Can anyone recommend a UK based company or individual who can transfer my standard 8 film to Apple Mac so I can edit on Final Cut Express or Adobe Premiere Pro? There are so many websites advertising for a variety of prices it is hard to know what you get for your money.
Anyone with good and bad experiences in the south west?

Robert,

Is using your own camera out of the question? Quite a few folks here do their own transfers.

Hi Doug

That was plan A, but I encountered a problem with flicker on the camcorder and now I cannot get the lamp on my Eumig P8 Automatic to work. It's a new bulb and worked intermittently, but has stopped altogether. The film will run through ok, but no good without a working lamp. The cheapest new A1/193 I found is about £19. I have wondered about rigging up a different light source, but haven't found anything suitable yet.
