Austin,

Please let us know the make and model of your projector and we'll try to see why the reels aren't moving and the bulb isn't lighting up.

It will still be helpful to know what machine you have for future recommendations.

Not having any idea about your projector model and make, I can only suggest for the light problem, have you turned the lamp switch on? Do you know for sure the lamp is good?

Give him a break [Smile] he's just very enthusiastic

Austin, have your parents contact me via email - I can work with them to help you with your projector - I also think I have a few films I can donate but again Id want to speak to your parents first.

Austin, you are still 13yo, and you are not supposed to play with a high voltage machine like this projector. You may get electric shocked!

There should be an adult supervision in doing that.

That's why (I think) Roy need to talk to your parent.

We live in "a new world" where we hate with one word.... (getting) "SUED".

Long time a go (in my age) it is OK to talk with a stranger but it is no longer a norm.

So please invite your parents in doing this hobby. You are still under age.

regards,

Something fishy here. Did a search by his member name and get this message:
"The user number you entered either does not exist or does not have any current posts. "

And yes, I did enter it in the member name area, not the member number area. Doug?

Barry, I think this is more a forum software problem.

I tried with one member which has thousands post also found the same message.

I tried your name and my name, I could go through.

But if you want to see Austin recent post, you can click on his profile and click again on top right corner (view recent posts). And you will see his posts:

Again @ Austin please get your parents' concerns first when doing a dangerous thing with electricity.

True, true:

At that age I never messed with anything north of about 12V.

Of course a few years later this lead to the time I was fixing an electric clock and decided to change the plug. I cut the line cord while it was still plugged in!

-gotta love those insulated grip pliers!

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

Steve

I did [Eek!] and it was a big mistake I wired our old Bush radio direct to my brothers reel to reel tape recorder for direct recording or so I thought, when I switched things on I blew both speakers and the house fuse, found out later the old radio had a live chassis. [Eek!]

Austin at your age dont go near anything that runs on mains voltage I call mains electricity the silent killer you cant see it but its there and you dont get a second chance.

Austin talk to your parents about it, get them involved Oh! and welcome to the nutty but fun world of film and projectors [Smile]

Graham.

Austin,

Winbert described the situation perfectly.

While I am free to extend an invitation to your parents to contact me - unfortunately I am unable to contact you directly via email, nor may I advise you on making repairs.

I hope you understand, and I hope you talk to your folks and ask them for help - they probably care more than you realize.

Barry,

The decent thing to do is to be helpful until proven otherwise, just as we've done.
