It might actually be the fault of the optical soundtrack as well. While some are rock steady in thier performance (I speak of the soundtrack), others can have a lot of pop, hiss and others fault in them.

Now, some of that can be cured with a very good cleaning of the film. Since the optical track is printed on, as is the film image, there is no harm done with a really good cleaning. Those optical tracks will make very clear each and every bit of dust that happens to find it's way onto that optical track.

Thomas my projector shows that only for certain films. So I guess the optical lamp need to be re-aligned. But I don't bother because I don't have that many optical films and moreover magnetic sound is more superior than optical.

cheers,

Thomas, try to things ...

1. View the film as it passes through the optical lense area.

a. Is the optical lense "flickering" (like a flame?), that could mean that it is indeed getting neqar to expiration.

b. If the lamp's burning is steady and rock on solid, does the film, as it passes over the optical lamp, vibrate? (have a bend?). That is, is the passage smooth over the optical lamp or a "bumpy ride"?
