Continuing what John Black started, the fifth CineSea Film Collectors Convention will take place in Wildwood, New Jersey on Saturday, May 5th & Sunday, May 6th.

Come for a weekend of film buying, selling, trading, screenings and presentations. There will be dealer tables full of film and equipment: 35mm, 16mm and especially 8mm. How often do you get to look through tons of films and screen them before you buy? At the last show we had 4 projectors and a 35mm Moviola running simultaneously! Steve Osborne (The Reel Image) will bring the newest Super 8mm releases for us to project.

John knew exactly what he was doing when he chose Wildwood for the first convention. He wanted a friendly atmosphere at a great location. We're 30 minutes away from Atlantic City and the Ocean Holiday Resort is right next to the beach (consistently mentioned as one of the top beaches in the U.S.). How many film conventions do you overhear people saying that they’ll be right back after they take a walk along the beach or go check out the boardwalk and the amusement park?

Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th, 2012

The Ocean Holiday Resort
6501 Ocean Avenue
Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260
609-729-2900 (mention "Film Show" to receive special rate of $65.00 per room)
Reserve early to get Oceanfront rooms with private balconies!

Admission: $5.00, free to those who are staying at the Ocean Holiday.
Hours: Saturday 10 – 6, Sunday 9 - 3. After a dinner break on Saturday there will be screenings till ……whenever!

Dealers:
6 foot dealer tables are available for $20. You can rent as many as you like. Compared to other shows, this is an incredibly low price. The cost of a table is so low that if you've got any films you'd like to part with it makes sense to get a table and bring them to the show.

Lou Franchetti will be there and as usual his tables will be stacked with 8mm and 16mm. To reserve a table you can email/PM me or Lou.

Directions:
From North; Garden State Parkway to Exit 4, follow Rio Grande Ave to end. Right on Ocean Ave. Follow to Ocean Holiday on left 6501 Ocean Ave. From West and South;Rt 76 (east) or Rt 95 (north) to Walt Whitman Bridge. Follow Rt. 42 to Atlantic City Expressway. Take Exit 7 (Garden St Parkway South) Follow same as north.

There are two highlights of the CineSea get-togethers. One is the chance to meet with people who enjoy this terrific hobby (Finally, a chance to chat about 8mm for two days straight!) and the other is the evening screening that starts after dinner. We can screen any print in the room and the last time we kept going till around 2 AM.

I hope to see you there!

Doug

I've been to two of these so far and it's been a great experience both times. It's a whole weekend of watching films, buying films and talking about films. Despite these forums we collectors are basically lone wolves and here is an opportunity to get out and meet people who enjoy this as much as you do, maybe make some valuable contacts, or just have a good time!

One of the things that caught me by surprise was seeing a projected print that I didn't own. That's an experience I hadn't enjoyed for maybe 20 years. Steve Osborne sent a long reel of the films he sells and I liked one of them so much I bought a print. How often to you get to do that these days?

Besides: how often do you get to see one of these?
