I have a 100 volts model so I suppose it was made for the Japanese market. I have the manual in French but they don't mention anything about the antenna that is on the projector. I suppose it allows to transmit the sound to a speaker wireless. I was wondering if anyone had some information about that (like if there is a speacial speaker or a special radio set).

Hi Dominique,

Tell us more about this "antenna" on your Elmo GS-800.
Perhaps post a pic.

My GS-800 doesn't have one fitted.

Dogtor

When you get the pics please post them. I am curious about the antenna.

It is a telescopic radio anenna looking like one. When the projector is facing the screen and you're looking at the back (where the plug is), the antenna is on the left, above the "lock oush rec" button (of course, it is on the top of the projector. Beside the 18/24 fps button, there is the mono/stereo & rec button, on my projector there is also (with the same button) a FM 78 MHz position (on the top). I tried with a radio but nothing. The manual in French doesn't mention the antenna and the mono/stereo & rec button has only two positions on the picture.

Hi Dominique

I got your pics of the GS-800 and sure enough, it has a telescopic antenna built into the rear cover.

I am guessing this antenna has to do with the Public Address system that this projector has. It probably had a special wireless transmitter/microphone, to be used when addressing a crowd. This would be useful and saves having to use a long microphone cable.

Maybe other members have seen this model before and can add more. It's the first time for me to see this set up and it looks original. Maybe Doug can post the pics here for you.

Dominique,

Please use my email link to send me the pictures and I'll post them. Or....follow these directions:

When you click on the "Post Reply" button, you're taken to the page where you type your reply in the message box. Underneath that box, on the left side is a link that reads "Click here to upload an image." If you click on that, you're taken to the Image Upload page. Scroll down and you'll see
a place to enter your user name and password. After doing that, click on the "Browse" button, which lets you choose the photo you want to upload.
Remember, the photo can't be any larger than 550 pixels wide and must be less than 200K file size. After you've chosen the photo, click the "Submit" button. If everything works properly, you'll see the "Success! Your Photo has been uploaded!" page. Copy the link for your photo and paste it into your response.
The photo should show up in your post!

Doug

Dominique, although it is said to be 100v, I believe inside there is a voltage selector that you can adjust to your country's voltage.

No, Winbert, I have just checked. I don't remember the seller as it was long time ago but what I do remember is that he didn't warn me about the 100 volts. So, I burnt two bulbs (and fuses before realizing that it was not 220 volts. As 100 volts is not a standard for the converters, I was lucky to find a good electrician who told me to use a converter with different positions. So I put 240 volts at one side and 110 volts at the other and instead of receiving 110, I get 100 as the voltage is not 240 but 220. I had to buy a new converter but it was not bad as I used a very old one which was probably not very safe.

If there is no voltage selector, I belive the transformer has the option to change the voltage. It has been discussed here before. What you need to do is just to re-soldering.

I didn't see anything inside that could let think there is a possiblity of having 220 volts. The two fuses have a 130 volts mention. The easiest and safest way to use the projector is, for me, to use a transfo.

Perhaps the aerial is a special Japanese idea to save running out 50 feet of lead to your extension speaker.

The email didn't make it through. Could you try sending each photo separately?

Dominique says that the projector has an FM 78 position. Whilst most of the world has an FM band of 87.5 - 108, Japan only has 76 - 90.

The latter probably explains why his radio will not receive signals from the projector.

I believe this is a custom order.

Please check inside if the wiring is really neat & tidy.

My opinion comes from the fact that the original box will not fit to cater this antenna due to the height as well as the styrofoam.

So the previous owner has installed an FM transmitter to transmit the sound coming out from the projector to the remote speaker.

My 2 cents though,

If the aerial is an original fitment then obviously Elmo would have designed a suitable box.
