No problems yet, but after bidding & winning one of my films he or she has decided to query the postage comparing what inm charging to what some dealers charge, im awaiting his or her reply with an offer on the postage, Ive also pointed out that the likes of dealers who post mega amounts probably get a deal and they dont always use recodred delivery which does adds to the rate.

Those are the type of buyers we can all do without. Amazing how many fail to actually read the full auction description. Or they do, but ask what is in the description. I rarely sell on eBay and those are just some of the reasons why I don't do so more often. I worked in retailing for many years and have little patience with illiterate butt plug buyers.

What tickles me is this fascination with shipping costs,I don't
question them,I ask the seller what do you want for postage, and
enclose it (I don't use ebay) It's like shipping has just been invented,it has always been here, like death & taxes, and always
will be.If you want your goods, someone must be payed to bring
them to you.I know from experience that when I was importing films from Europe,I was charged import duty on them, and we were members of the Common Market as it was known then.
As for charges, try living in the UK,where postage costs inland
are scandalous, costing the equivalent of a US Dollar to send a
simple letter, and we are a small country. If anyone has cause
for complaint it is the residents of the British Isles.

Hang on a minute guys and Tom especially - lets have the full picture here - I have paid in full and Tom said he would refund any difference - I just thought that having sold a 4x400ft 3 weeks ago on ebay and paid £7 pounds to post - I thought that £4.50 for a 400ft was a little pricey - I just thought I'd query the postage cost. I pay my way - I've been an avid collector for 30 years - so I don't appreciate comments made by yourself - Tom - I hope the print is as good as you say it is.

Well, OK David, i guess i do need to climb down from my high horse and apologise for the comments, i guess with the postage shown it would normally be accepted before bidding, however, to let you all know my agreement with David is, have it paid as per auction selling price and i am offering to refund any difference for what is paid and what it actually costs.
Also, Thank you for coming on here to slap me down, [Wink]
With a couple of bad dealings in the past i tend to shout before getting the facts so a lesson learnt there i think for me, i do hope with past items ive sold that my description is as acurate as always.

Dear Tom,

I've been a member of the forum for a few years now - I feel with the cost of 2nd hand prints escalating - every body needs to try to be supportive of each other in this hobby. I also try to be fair in my dealings or responses to others - so thank you for you response - just remember there are genuine people on here who are willing to support each other to keep this hobby alive [Smile] David

Here is a excellent read from both the buyer's and seller's point of view. It covers several things including postage:

To check out current U.K. postage costs I took a 400' Super 8 in a clam-shell case, some wrapping and a padded bag and put them on the scales. 525 grams.

Priced £0.99 for a new padded bag, £0.95 to cover "Signed For Recorded Delivery", with an overall size of 240mm x 240mm x 25mm, and came up with the following:

Large Letter = 2nd class £3.84. 1st class £4.24.

Packet = 2nd class £4.04. 1st class £4.64.

Tom this guy has already paid you for his good and you could have sorted this issue out privately .It is a shame that you use David eBay identity to complain because he simply did not agreed with your charges. However, you could have explained the cost of postage the way our member Maurice explained in his replay.
I think your complain about David was one sided and unfair, as he had already paid you for the goods .It is too late for apologising the damage is done to yourself and not to David!!!
Another point which I believe was and is important; I think at least you could have explained fairy in your 1st post that David has already paid you for the goods .Therefore, please next time when you complaining about any other collector, firstly, make sure you are given all the facts to the readers and not just the fact that only suit you.I don't say that your postage fees are right or wrong ,but giving the identity of another collector in such manner was totally unfair . Leon, i do agree with you and with the goods to David goes a private letter, hence i have also tonned down the original posting,I was well over the top and heavy handed and, as per previous posting, have apologised to David.
I guess a couple of previous issues with e bay have made me tie everyone with the same brush which was very unfair to do so,
i do totally agree with you, however, hopefully people on here will know this is not typical of me to be so heavy handed, a lesson learned, putting it all in perspective, my only gripe was being asked about the postage charge after the bidding had ended, but this too is being resolved,
