Have you ever gotten a print that was so badly scratched that you wondered how it got that way?

I got a Trailer which was on the head of a short subject that is so badly scratched that its difficult to watch what is happening in the frame! I will replace it with another print and use it as a sound recording test film. Fortunately, the trailer was free as the seller didn't notice it was there. But its loaded with Tram Lines (Deep Emulsion Scratches) and Black Lines! The Short Subject it was spliced onto has very little signs of use which was a nice surprise!

Yes it's happened to me quite a few times but that's one of the pitfalls of buying blind on eBay I suppose.

I still prefer checking the prints in person if at all possible.

Only once, I bought a print of "Hoppity Goes to Town", full feature. 29.00 dollars so I thought it was a good buy. Not only was it beet red without a hint of color left, but it was so scratched up and dirtier than anything i had ever seen before, I actully admired the ba**ards cheek at selling, probably giggling happily all the way to the bank!

I bought it from Australia, and it must have been stored in the dirtiest shed in the hottest part of the outback! GRRRR!

I used to find they were very popular at the Christmas do's for
the lads at work, they did enjoy a nice dirty film.followed by a
cartoon,then a dirty film,trailers, dirty film,cartoon, dirty film,
a couple of dirty films, then I'd take requests.
