As you can see buy the pics, it works. Both sides were pushed together,causing film to scrape reel. I heated the reel with a hair dryer on high. Then let it cool. The process took me 45 minutes. You have to be careful not to spread reel to far and may have to repeat process. But it saves the reel

One has to be careful not to crack the reel with the spacer. And some reels are two halves glued together. But its certainly worth trying! Hey Pat, I hope that wasn't a Tit Clamp you used as a spacer!

Just a regular clamp. And your right about cracking the reel. But these reels (800') are getting hard to get. So I will take them in any shape and fix them. It's just part of the fun of the hobby. I am retired and have the time.
