Ok, here'e the thing; this is a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone bought a copy of Alien at the BFCC Bring and Buy and got it home to find they had in fact got Pt 2 of Prophecy. You've probably now guessed that I bought the Prophecy three parter and got it home to find that Pt2 is in fact Alien...

It's a shame because (a) parts 1 and 3 which I do have are beautiful prints with cracking colour, definition and sound and (b) I need to know what fate befell the unfortunate campers that were attacked by the mutant beast at the end of reel one...

Yours in eager anticipation

Whats the print of prephecy like Mike. I know the colour in the 400 is usally good but the image is a little soft.

Mike,

The best scene in the film is what happens to the camper who's stuck in his sleeping bag. Then again, there's that nasty litte racoon........

Mark,

My print of the three parter is very good. Color, sound, sharpness are all top notch. It's better to watch the cutdown then the full feature. What a rough period that must've been in John Frankenheimer's life.

Its funny the things you will watch or even collect on film you would never look at on anything else !!!!
Bst Mark
The 400 I had a few years back was very soft indeed.

A little over five years on and I have just dug this thread out of the archives and dusted it down because I have at long last bought a copy of the second part of Prophecy. So now I shall be able to see the "whole" film in all its cut down glory (is that a super 8 oxymoron?).

Doug, I'm looking forward to finding out what does happen to the camper in his sleeping bag, but will probably wait until I'm not in the house on my own before projecting it on the big screen!

I still can't quite believe I've started buying super 8 package movies again. There's something seriously addictive about this hobby!

Thanks for the offer Hugh, but I have the 3 x 400fter, that's what I bought at the BFCC all those years ago. The thing was though, that when I got it home I found that reel 2 was in fact the 400ft cut down of Alien and not reel 2 of Prophecy.

I have the three original boxes, all in great condition and I now have all three parts of the digest, plus an extra box for part two with a copy of Alien in it!

Thanks again

We also have the 3 x 400ft, its one of the good cut downs marketing did, ours still has excellent colour and sound, print is pretty good but hard to focus if you know what i mean?

I didn't realise this was an old thread,please forgive me.I can't
say I've noticed any focusing problems,as it is a nice sharp print.

Hi Hugh, well its weird, the print is very good but normally you simply turn the focus knob and its its sorted, with this print i focus it, then i seem to require little adjustments to find that perfect focus, its difficult to explain [Confused] [Wink]

Hi Tom,no I've not come across that one, although a lot of years
ago I had a copy of "Godfather II" that was incredibly soft and
would not focus at all,it was printed full frame, the replacement
I bought was masked and sharp. One gets the impression that
anything went regarding the labs, but the copy I have of
"Prophecy" is sharp as a tack.

Update: Part 2 of The Prophecy arrived in the post yesterday and it turned out to be part 3. So now I have 1 x part 1, 2 x part 3s, a box for part 2 and a copy of Alien. [Confused]

So I still haven’t got to see what happens to the campers in their sleeping bags. [Frown]

Anybody out there got a copy of part 2 of Prophecy they want to sell? Box not required…
