Am I mistaken or do they use different lamps for 110V and 220V?

I see on the super8data.com has this info:
150 W, 120 V, DNE (for Usa and Canada)
100 W, 12 V, EFP (for other countries)

Howcome? Would it be dangerous to chose the wrong one (ie explode or something)?

Hi Vidar,

In Australia I have only seen the Chinon 6100 equipped with an EFM 8v 50w Dichroic Lamp. So they are not the brightest when it comes to light output but still Ok for occasional family use.

It was the entry level Chinon Super 8mm Sound Movie Projector so they also decided to leave out the Zoom lens which all the other dearer Chinon models had. It only came with a fixed lens and no zoom. A very basic super 8mm sound projector that is a reasonable starter machine for some-one.

If you pay a bit more you can easily find a Chinon model with a 12v 100w EFP Dichroic plus the Zoom lens. Such as the Chinon 7000 series as well as the Chinon T.V. Screen types.

The next level up used the 15v 150w EFR as in the Chinon 7500 and 8500 etc. On those you also get Variable Speed by reostat and more elaborate sound amplifiers.

There seems to be a Chinon model to suit for all budgets.

I currently have a Chinon 8500 and a Chinon 9500 MV with small inbuilt viewing screen. Curiously, the Chinon 9500 MV only has a EFP 100w lamp, not the 150w. I still love them both. Maybe the chance will arise one day to get one of the mighty Chinon Stereo SS1200 projectors. I will keep searching. What a fabulous Chinon that model is. The sound from them is unbelievably good.

What do the other members here think of the Chinon range of super 8mm Sound Movie projectors?

Hmmm ... Wait until I get it picked up and check what's inside :-)

Thanks for the info

There were various versions of the 6100 Vidar such as the 6100Z which has the usual 100 watt lamp A1.231

Hello Vidar,

Super8data.com is a good starting point but not the final word. There is a lot of misinformation there.
