I have a projector that hasn't been used in forty years. What precautions should I take before using it ? It turns on, forward and reverse work, and it has a new bulb.

Hi Mike in terms of safety there should be nothing to worry about, just taking care the film loads properly when its threading through really.

If its been kept somewhere dry etc the chrome on the gate should be ok and not rusted or anything. You could have a peep at it with a torch.

Has it got a model number out of interest, and should be a good machine.

Also cleaning the film path gentley with its own brush if it has one or steady as you go not forcing anything with a cotton bud isn`t a bad idea too.

Hope it goes well.

Best Mark.
