I have a 600' The Hurricane Express ... It actually looks like digital noise. Anyone have info on what's happened here?

In lighter places, it's not so obvious

At first glance this looks similar to what I call orange spot syndrome.

We discussed possible causes here.

Doug's hit it right on the head. believe it or not, this is a "parasite" that eats away at film, or at least some film stocks that are allowed to be in just the right conditions for this "condition" to exist.

I have a few very old "Blackhawk" 400ft reels that have this at the beginning and the end. I personally think it's pretty cool (but glad that it's not on all my films!)

Is it still eating away at it you mean? Would a film renew stop anything, if that's the case?

Not same as vinegar (ie contagious)?
