What's the general quality of these? I have a print of CARRY ON SCREAMING which is a beauty. Are they all on low fade stock?

Unfortunately not all of them Mike.
I have a couple of the earlier Derann edited releases (Camping and Abroad) and they are on Eastman stock. They were advertised and sold as 4x400ft but easily fitted on one 1200ft spool.
They carried a little bonus though - the BBFC certificate.
I believe there may also be a few low fade copies of those titles around from later runs.
I agree 'Screaming' is a great looking print being a later offering.

I have the majority of the Carry On's that were released on S/8
with the exception of "Khyber" ( I have the 600') feature. Some
of them varied in quality,"That's Carry On" was excellent, as for
low fade stock,I'll have to check them and get back to you.

I also have 'That's Carry On' which is on low fade but this was a much later release (I believe) from Derann and is complete on 3x600. Not the sharpest print but still very good and on low fade.

As for the others most, are on SP or worse and will have some fade but the ones I have seen still have many colours left but sadly never seen them on low fade but they might exist somewhere. I have both Camping and Emmannuelle on SP, the latter from Iver films as 2x400.

Hello Michael, have checked my copies ; SCREAMING ; no
markings
THATS CARRY ON ; A G 3 S , ABROAD ; no markings , CAMPING ; no markings, JUNGLE ; S 1 , THATS CARRY ON ; no markings
SERGEANT ; b/w stock no markings. AGAIN DOCTOR, GIRLS,
CONVENIENCE,BEHIND are all Kodak S P
All these prints have excellent colour with no sign of fade, but then
I haven't as yet experienced any print fade with Derann stock.
The other prints I have are all from Powell,PM FILMS Walton,
or Collectors Club still with good colour.

I ran my print last night for the first time in a while. It's a letterboxed print and, though I didn't notice this on screen, a couple of the screenshots look squeezed. Are there any Scope prints of this title? I doubt it but, worth asking.

Hi Hugh if you can`t see much marking wise it will likely be one of the LPP kodak ones. It was released on the cusp of agfa at Derann. A few prints, maybe the 1st run, were on LPP.

The Ag 1s or 2S is usally easy to see but the small red LPP etc can be very faint or even under the balance stripe.

Best Mark.

Another collector tells me that these Carry On films were not, in fact, Derann releases but that Powell released them. I'm confused.
Did Derann release COS or not?

Hi,

I've got copies of Carry on Camping, Carry on Abroad, Carry on up the Jungle - which although abridged still hold up well with colour and sound - I've also got Carry on Screaming - beautiful print, Carry on up the Khyber (full length) - good colour and sound and Carry on Sargeant - lovely B/W print - overall - I've had no issues with the Derann prints of the carry on's - and it's great to have copies on film - rather than DVD.

I agree. I have never felt the need to buy Carry On Screaming on DVD. My print is more than adequate.
