Doing my usual daily trawl through the e bay list of films for sale I couldn't help having a giggle at the following post from a famous Uk dealer selling a feature film. In response to a potential buyers question this was the reply quote/unquote:-
Hi Rob, 1. Is the filmstock prestriped or poststriped? This was released via Derann Film services who had their own stripper in-house and I believe stripped the LPP stock post but I cannot say with 100% certainty as sadly Derann is no more to be able to confirm this.

Now I know Derann catered for many of our needs, but I never knew they had their own in-house STRIPPER! Ha ha , certainly never when I visited!

Perhaps the stripper did Derann's striping.

They did have a striping machine: up to until 1997 (?) more or less, they used to offer striping to customers' own films which at some point they stopped (I recall there was an announcement on their bullettin when this happened).

As for the film they printed, these came in their shop on a double perf 16 mm (for side by side printing: one perf on one of the edges and the other one at the center of the film); then they did the striping when the film has to be split yet; this was done by a wardrobe-sized machine for paste striping; next to it there was the machine for recording the sound from their sound masters. This machine was not the same as the previously quoted one and was in use until the last day. so to speak. Hope this helps.

Maurizio, I think it is a joke with the words in English. A stripper is someone who does strip tease. I don't know if it's also a synonym of stripping machine or if the Ebay seller was distract, but it seems to be funny for English speaking people.
