This has been mentioned on the early Hammer releases thread and no one has been able to help, but as a last resort I'm hoping this may be seen by someone who has not been reading that thread. I simply need to find out which of the three Hammer 1940s Dick Barton films was available on Std 8. Derann released a 4 x 400' and there was also a trailer for the same film that appeared on one of their trailer/ads reels. If anyone could provide the title, I'd be extremely grateful.

Just seen this re Mr Barton.

Have posted on the Hammer thread too.

I've found my standard 8 trailer for the Dick Barton film.
It's "Dick Barton Strikes Back"

Had to dig down deep to find it, and cheat I have no standard 8 projector at the moment. At least you can just view a frame on a super editor.

I love the smell of film in the morning.

Denis Gifford states in his excellent book "The Armchair Odeon" that "Dick Barton-Special Agent" was released by Derann Films in Standard 8 with a 70 minute running time which would be on 4X400ft reels. I have never seen a print of this title myself.

Thanks, David and Paul. I had presumed that the trailer was also issued as a feature but in view of 'Dick Barton - Special Agent' being released as a feature, perhaps 'Dick Barton Strikes Back' was only a trailer.

Paul - could you kindly please see if there's any mention of 'Four Sided Triangle' in the Gifford book as that's the last main uncertainty. If it's there, confirmation of it being Std 8 and the length and distributor (almost certainly Derann) would be appreciated.

Sadly there is no mention of "Four Sided Triangle" in the book.
