Hello all!

I don't really have any friends who appreciate film or collecting, but I have done very well for myself in the past few weeks!

It all started when I found a reel of "Putting Pants on Philip" with Laurel and Hardy for $2.50. Afterwards, I was walking around the flea market and saw a gentleman with other L&H memorabilia and casually asked "Have anything like this?" and showed him the reel. He replied "They made 105 films together, I think I have close to 100 on Super 8." This led to a back and forth for a few weeks before finally he brought two full boxes of films for me to look at and potentially purchase. The following week he was not there, but I found two people selling reels at very reasonable prices, and finally this week he was back again with a new box full of reels. He still hasn't brought everything he owns, but I'm sure I will see him again.

Pictured here are my scores. 6 of the boxes are from an eBay lot I won last week, but the rest were all picked up from the Flea Market!

Anyone else have any success stories like this?

Also: The Jaws reel had a poster inside. Was this issued with the 200' release or was this a promotional poster that just happened to get placed inside?

That is a very nice haul! I love flea markets. I don't always come across films but lots of projectors. I once got a Chinon 330 super 8 sound projector (in working condition) for $8...a Canon regular 8 camera for $1 that I used all during 2010 to use up my Kodachrome filming my son and his car collection. But the best deal was the Bolex M-8 regular 8 projector for $20. It looked brand new and runs great. You can really find some great film related stuff at the flea markets.

All your film friends are right here Dave!

SCORE!!! There's some really great titles there! I hope all the cartoons have great color! That "Dover Boys" is probably the earlier release and not the new prints that came out a few years ago, but boy, I'd LOVE to be at that flea market sale!!!!

Nice!

You are obviously going to a better class of flea markets than I do because I've never seen films or equipment in one I'd waste the space on at any price!

It's the perfect opportunity too: the odds of there being several film collectors there are pretty small.

-definitely a buyers market!

I thought I saw a projector standing out at the curb on garbage day once a few years ago.

-turned out to be a sewing machine!

Screens? I don't even slow down these days.

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

Never found anything close to that in Jersey, except at "live" shows (excepting flea markets) - Envy it a bit, maybe I'll bet singularly fortunate some day - Shorty

The one reel I picked up I was pretty sure was Nosferatu, but it was labeled "Terror of Dracula" on a 400' reel with an intro card from a place called Entertainment Films. It is Nosferatu, albeit a one reel abridged version.
