The amount people pay for a faded no color left print is astounding to me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-Sound-Color-Scope-Feature-Lucas-Star-Wars-1977-Uncut-Classic-Sci-Fi-Epic/111825771954?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DAB A.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3D03dd34640af244a492774745cfb24203%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D321925158768

Judging from the screen shots,it has some color left. I beleive we usually say it as very good color. Sometimes the white balance setting on digital camera makes the print look wash out.

Yikes... [Roll Eyes] I have a 16mm Scope print that's fading. I was going to spin it off into the rubbish bin and just keep the reels for something else. [Smile]

That is a stunning amount to pay for one film, let alone one that is fading! I'm truly flabbergasted. [Eek!]

I had kodachrome prints on 16mm of all 3 original "Star Wars" movies (Scope as well) about 15 years ago, and I got £1500 for the 3, and they were mint, it amazes me what some people will pay for any kind of print these days!

Don't you think it's because it is a 1977 print? Isn't it hard to find a print of Star Wars in it's original version before Lucas started playing with it? Adding effects, etc?

I think it's phenomenal- more money than I could pay- but great for the seller.

I'm watching this one with great interest.

I would like to tell these bidders for that amount of money they could purchase a super 8 scope lowfade print and a good stereo projector and still have left over cash for popcorn.

And would be far better off in doing so Paul judging by the overall appearance of this print!

This is one film that definitely needs the Stereo Scope experience to enjoy to the maximum.

I remember that about 15 years ago someone offer me a print like this. It was a original english version with faded color, he wanted a offer more than 250 german marc. This was somethink about $100. I didn´t bought it and soon after that I get a german dubbed original fuji print with much better color for 370 German Mark and I never regret to refuse this offer untill now.

I can´t belive that someone pay so much for a faded print.

$4,724 NZ dollars [Eek!] I paid about $60 NZ for my original "Star Wars" 16mm Scope print.

Would some "sucker" out there like to buy my faded print for only $3000 [Big Grin] included are some special features, such as a "few original scratches" [Roll Eyes] ...I would even throw in the reels for $3000 [Big Grin]

Sorry folks just being sarcastic, my conscience would never allow me to sell it, when prints get like that its better to dump it.

I don't believe we need a sale of a film to tell us that unfortunately Del! [Frown]

Stay safe Dominique. It's particularly worrying where you are right now!

$3,100 and now 45 bids. This print looks worse than any in my collection. Why is someone prepared to pay this sort of price when they can buy a pristine blu-ray and projector and get cinema quality. I wouldn't even want to watch such a faded copy.

Myself, I quite like Star Wars,Lee, but I'm not a fanatic of it as some people are with these things. "Treckies" I think we used to call them thinking back to my early High school days. It's the very same group of people who never missed a single episode of DR Who or Hitchhikers Guide [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I'd never pay more for this print than any other low fade equivalents, so I guess as I never pursued a copy first time around in the hobby, I never will now.

Ah well, ney bother..there is always B.R.

Hey! I've been saying, get that STAR WARS stuff that you want to sell, up on ebay, right now, when the "feeding frenzy" is at it's highest.

I have a original STAR WARS promo poster up on ebay right now, ending in less than an hour (it was a give-away in the first years release of the STAR WARS soundtrack LP, and I nevr put it up on the wall, left it in the album and kept it pristine) ...

It has a 100.00 dollars bid on it right now, for something that was a freebie all those years ago ...

So folks, cash in while you can!

The sad thing here is the odds that the winner of this auction is likelier a collector of Star Wars memorabilia than a film collector and if that's the case this film may have seen its last screening.

For us it's always content and condition and we'd certainly pay a reasonable amount for a print like this, but not this much.

-for all we know we may have George Lucas and James Earl Jones bidding against Harrison Ford this time! (Tell me none of them ever goes on E-bay!)

-by the same token it could just be some regular guy that got carried away and is sitting in front of his monitor right this moment saying "Oh crap! Ohhhh CRAP!! Someone PLEASE outbid me!". (-been there!)

(His wife thought they were going to Orlando this Winter but in a few hours he'll have some 'splaining to do!)

"Trekkies" into Star Wars? At elite engineering schools around the world bar fights have broken out across this divide!

Wow!

I was sure there would be a bunch of sniper bids at the end! ("C'monnnn $5,000!")

Of course for the people that didn't get the winning bid this will forever remain the single greatest piece of film ever put on a reel.

-the one that got away!
