So I got a nice British Railway film the other day, and celebrated Friday night by watching it for the first time.
I took it out of the box and saw clear leader and stripes ("Good! Commercially made sound film!") I set the knob on my mixer for the usual level, ran the transport and lit the lamp.
"No Sound!"
I thought it was kind of a shame: nice, sharp, colorful image, interesting action on screen, but it was silent!
-I could have sworn the E-bay page said "sound" too!
I cranked the knob past what should be ear-splitting levels and got nothing but a little low-level hum. Not even a whisper of recorded audio!
I got to the end of the reel, brought the lights up and reviewed my setup just as a sanity check.
Here's our thought for the day:
"When you have a film on projector #1, don't use the volume knob for projector #2!"
(Let's try that again!)
