Hi all. First off thanks for letting me join. I've been interested in 8mm projectors for a while, but never knew anything about them. Or at least enough to know what to look for when buying one. So, my wife and I are yard sale-holics, and happened to drive by an estate sale today. Found some goodies there, and among them an 8mm projector, which upon opening I found to be a Keystone 965. And yes, I paid a DOLLAR for it. After opening it up, I find I'll need a new lamp, and the drive belt and friction pads? Not sure if that's wht they're called or not. I found the lamps on eBay, but am having a hard time finding the other parts, and a manual for it. Some help in that area would be great! I have some pics I shot of it if I can get them uploaded.

Also, once in working order, what is a unit like this valued at?

I'd love to get this machine operational. Any ideas?

Hi Brandon,

You could try contacting this Ebay seller:

isellprojectorbelts

He doesn't seem to have belts explicitly for your machine on sale right now, but he may be able to figure out something for you. He's been a lot of help to me in past years.

Before DVD players and VCRs and in some cases even television itself, machines like this were very common. They were also simple and built like tanks, so that even now they are out there in vast herds.

-so as nice as they still are, they don't command huge prices. There's a Keystone 965 in operating condition on E-bay right now for $29.99 (buy it now) plus shipping.

Thank you! I can't wait to get it running. I think it would be a nice surprise for the wife. She was happy when I got it.

I wonder if you can replace the missing friction material by getting several small O-rings of the right size and placing them next to each other.

The missing belt will most likely be a spring belt. Isellprojectorbelts probably will be able to help, worst case scenario he'll just need to know pulley diameters and distances in between the two shafts.
