Brad's thread concerning Walton's editing in Tom and Jerry releases caused me to wonder if such edits in their cartoons are specific to T&J. Does anyone know if (e.g.) any of their Pink Panther releases have edits? Many of their one reel non-animated releases have generous footage, so I wondered if their T&J edits were linked to contractual factors rather than them simply being mean?

In the original Walton release MGM insisted that the prints were not to be full length cinema issues. So, for the first ten they were slightly edited, often almost impossible to spot. For the remaining twenty issues they were not edited. I don't think the reason was ever made known. I've never noticed any editing with their Pink Panthers, but they are not MGM releases.
