Dear all,
I recently tried to operate my Eumig RS3000 in order to preview my old super8 sound movies before getting them digitalized.
The sound was missing so I looked on different sites and found that the sound heads have to be cleaned. I tried to do so but unfortunately by my fault two small pieces dropped down from the soundhead pressure pad( see arrow). They are shown on the picture joined. I brought the projector to a specialized store but they were unable to fix the pieces due to the their lack of experience. The white plastic piece 759 6106/4 has to be clipsed back but I have no idea where the steel piece has to be placed. Since the access is very narrow (see pictures) the only way is to remove the soundhead pressure pad and to put the two pieces back in place. The removal is explained herebelow on one page of the maintenance book but it scares me.
Could someone help me?

Hi Georg,

I don't know how you managed to dislodge those 2 parts. All that was needed is to open the pressure plate and wipe the sound pickups with a cotton bud and some alcohol.

Hi Georg,

To refit these 2 parts the pressure plate and the sound head must come off.
So follow the instructions to remove them and take pictures before dismantling.

When replacing the parts, the steel backing plate goes in first with the feet facing inwards. Then refit the white plastic part with the long end to the front. It is held in place by 4 small lugs. Clip in one side first then the other side lugs. Then reassemble it all and ensure the pressure plate opens and closes properly.

Proceed carefully as it's a slow, tricky job.
You will need good eyes, good light, good screwdrivers and lots of good luck too.

Dear Frank,
I had a closer look at my projector with a dentist mirror and I fear that if I remove the screws of the fastening blade as written in the manual, I never will get them back in place because of the narrow access.
So I will try to put the two small pieces in place from outside. Could you please give me more information on the position of the steel backing plate, I don't understand "feet facing inwards". A sketch would help since this plate which has a very flexible U form, is not shown in the manual.

Hi Georg,

"feet facing inwards" really means the end tags on the steel piece face upward. They slide into the pickup and the 2 bent ends keep it in place.
That's the only way this part can go in. Feet upwards.

Then the flat plastic part fits up against the steel and clips in place using its 4 lugs.

See how you go. There's not much room to work but you may be lucky.
