Hey Shorty (or others who may know).

I'm pretty sure that "The Great train Robbery' made it onto the "Silver Box Editions" done by Blackhawk ...

My question is, did they use low fade film stock for doing these? I ask as, there are lots of standard 8mm and otherwise prints of this, but the tinted scenes are always faded red eastman and I'm hoping that when Blackhawk reprinted this for the Silver Boxes, that they used low fade color stock for them.

Yes they did, and if you get a hand-tinted scored edition, whether in silver box or special box (marked code 875), by all means cherish it - Shorty

Wow!,

I never even imagined this once being scored! I'd love to have that!

Mine is the hand tinted and red faded silent edition. I saw a nice condition straight black and white once and given the choice, I'd go black and white any day.

All the B&W's were taken direct from paper positives at LOC - they are always stunning - Blackhawk's score adds depth to the 10-minute reel, coupled with the hand-tints - If I come across one, heads up your way - Shorty

I would greatly appreciate that!

-what I have isn't exactly a stunning example of 8mm, to say the least!

The one I currently have is an older standard 8mm edition with the tinted scenes on faded eastman film stock. It DOES have a very good image for such an early historical film, but I'd love the Silver box edition, to be sure!

I understand, however, that not all silver box editions were necessarily low fade. I have a print of the Coronet animated classic "The Animals First Christmas" and while the color is OK, it's not L.P.P. and the color is fading, but IS a silver box edition.

Hence me question. [Smile]

Osi, keep that old Std 8 print, it is rare nonetheless will be researched for the Blackhawk book no doubt, whenever that happens - Don't ask me, but I will help all I can - By silver-edition time, Blackhawk was using all the stock it had left before leaving us, whether low-fade or not, it's the best we could get - Shorty
