In addition to my thread „Wanted: XANADU“ I wanna start this thread.
My wonderful cutdown 2-reeler XANADU had to leave my collection because of the strong smell and the material which is of shape now.
But I found some more titles: JAWS 2, THE STING reel 2 and one Pierre Richard title: all of them from piccolo film, Germany.
My marketing film and ufa cutdowns have no sign of vinegar yet.
Do You think it is a piccolo film problem?
What is Your experience?

Oliver,
I have had a couple of 200 ft. Techno Film cartoons with strong vinegar smell. Neither had the warping or deformity of advanced VS though. I sealed in bags and froze them to try and halt the decay. But when thawed both still had the strong vinegar smell so I tossed them in the trash. Neither title was rare so that was fortunate.

FWIW, I have not encountered any other S8/8mm vinegar smell in any film distributed by other companies. But I do have another Techno Film cartoon without any signs of VS.
