I have a couple of these in working order. When I switch the lamp on, the speed drops but I can adjust the variable speed control to compensate. One of them, though, slows down much more than the other but projects ok. Any ideas?

Try "inching" the projector by hand. Does it feels reasonably smooth and without any sticking/binding/squeaking?

I think the speed drop is somewhat normal for this projector. I have a Sankyo 2000H, and mine slightly drops in speed when I switch on the lamp. Not enough that it effects projection but it's there. When I switch back to the forward speed, lamp off, it speeds up slightly.

Prices must be higher in the US. Mine cost £35 or so each including shipping. That's about $46.

Will, they certainly can be higher.

I've seen these projectors listed for less, but you usually get the old "hasn't been tested, no returns" stuff.
