Hello 8mm forum. I bought an 822 off ebay recently. My films are standard 8mm with sound. It did not come with the universal reel (AS-18). I did a search on the internet (searching universal film reel and other matching search terms from the thread on this forum did not find this thread for me...) and found a thread (Eumig 607D Help from 2013) in which Janice Glesser stated that an S8 reel would be fine but I am assuming that only works for super 8 film since the original poster mentions "complete super 8 novice". Do I need the universal reel for taking up standard 8? Is there another solution?
Also came without the small type s sprocket for the super 8 film (part no. 718.1189/8). I don't need it for my current films but I would like to have one in case I need it in the future. Anyone out there got that small sprocket from this projector or compatible from another projector they would be willing to part with? Thank you.

Nathaniel...You can use a Super 8 reel as a take-up reel for both Super 8 and Standard 8 films. That is what I use on my Eumig 824. There are many other dual format projectors that only use a super 8 take-up reel. It's a little wider than a standard 8 reel so it works for both formats.

Thank you Janice for taking the time to reply to this very basic question. I'm just getting started so this information is very useful.
