Last week on Ebay I saw someone selling drive-in snippets and intermission cartoons on Super 8. Are there anymore out there and if so would a member be interested in selling? I'm also looking to buy a Raiders of the Lost Ark digest and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (I know it exists on 16mm, but not sure about Super 8).

Sorry, Scott - Unfortunatley Willie Wonka never made it to super 8 - not even as a trailer. It would have been great!

Does Derann or CHC sell them?

I got a great S8mm cell phone in the theater spoof from Steve Osborne a while back. Drop him a line and see if he can get anything else.

If anyone wants to take on the venture to have S8mm reductions made for re-sale, I can supply some lab new prints to use as source material.

Scott, what were the drive-in items on Super 8? I have a few on 35mm and I know they were available on 16mm but I did not know about Super 8.

Hey David,
There were snipes such as coming attractions, musical fanfares, and an animated refreshment counter spot with announcer dialogue. I'm a huge drive-in freak with a bunch of that stuff on DVD, but I thought it would be great to have for my projector. Our drive-in here has five screens, the main one even has apartments in it! Are drive-ins still big there in Australia?

Fairly rare, but I have a 200' B&W print of the drive-in intermission spot with dancing concession foods along with a countdown ("The show will start in 10 minutes"). As Wayne advised, check with Steve Osborne.

Scott, Willy Wonka faded in 16mm isn't super cheap, $100 - $150 a print. I had an AGFA letter boxed print with 17'of marco's replacement footage that sold for several hundreds of dollars and I have seen a couple flat LPP prints go for over $300.00

They are out there and a little hard to find. If you find an AGFA print get it, IMHO the color is nicer than the LPP prints. Although I have only heard of two prints and one of them I sold. [Frown]

David, I have been told that there are some of the Dancing Hotdog intermission clocks floating around in S8mm. One person who purchased a 10 minute version from me (name left out) told me he had a 5 min. version which was B&W. I have seen some from time to time on ebay, but I don't recall what all they were.

Scott, you didn't miss anything. The guy or gal last week who was selling the stuff had a lot of reel to reel audio tape listed as S8mm film then changed it to audio tape when someone let him or her know the mistakes in the listing.

Scott - if by any chance you haven't checked out the extensive range of Drive-In short items that Wayne offers on 16mm, I'd suggest doing so as that alone would give you a massive incentive to get into 16mm!

Drive-ins are less than 10% of what they were back in the 70's here. We had hundreds back then. Here in the Melbourne area (pop around 4.5 million) there are three still running, down from 23 at the peak.

There is a 4 screen drive-in 10 mins from me here and I am there very often as I own it.
