FS/ ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
Full feature in cinemascope.
This a a rare german lab print, or some of you call it as CHC (Classic home Cinema) print.
Please note, this is not a flat marketing release, this is a cinemascope print and you need a cinemascope lens.
Print is struck from a german master, and it is also german dubbed, so you need re-record it, if you want watch it in your native language.

Print condition is excelent to near mint, they are only sometimes very thin black lines on the left side (typical from Elmo projectors).

The reason I sell this print is, I have a incomplete 35mm technicolor print and the color of this print looks in compare to the technicolor print realy bad. I think they did not used a technicolor print as master and the feature is also not shot as a colorful movie.
But the print is ok and I´m sure every print of this movie looks like my print.
I want say this because I was disapointed as I run this print last night.

It´s realy a great movie and very good sound track too.
And you have to watch it on the big screen in cinemascope.

Today I had a conversation with a friend about the print quality of ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST and he told me, the boss of the lab was also unhappy with the result of the negative quality, because the original 35mm master was not a very good print. And he confirmed that the master for this Super 8 relese was not a Technicolor print.
And from the same collection is also the master for the “Glenn Miller Story” release.
Strange to say but the color saturation of the “Glenn Miller Story” is the same like “Once Upon a Time in the West” and they used in both cases no Technicolor prints, both are re-release prints from the 80´s and I´m sure they are a little bit faded.

Maybe I get a chance to watch one reel of his 35mm print to see how is the color in compare to my Technicolor print.
If I do that, I will report my impression.

Hi Oemer,

as you know, I have a print of that film, too.
But I am not disappointed about the colour.
Let me say here you can see the dirt of the wild west much better than with more colour [Big Grin]

So the buyer will get a sharp and very good print. If you like this film, it is a "must have" in scope !!!

Hi Michael,
First, thank you very much for the Elmo reels, I used them for this print.
You are right, this print is ok for a Super 8 collector and I´m realy crazy to describe it so much critical. I don´t understand why nobody made me an lower offer? maybe the re-recording is a problem.
But if nobody want the print, I keep them my self.

Hello from Berlin,
I also own SPIEL MIR DAS LIED VOM TOD in scope and I am so happy with this print.
I like the colours and the image itself more than the Blu-Ray...
But I have to admit that this is my second print.
The first was poor in colours,
my "new" one is excellent.
The sky is most wonderful blue... which is rare for a Super-8 print.
There must have been differences between the prints!
This is a treasure You should keep forever.

I have to agree, that does look far better than the Blu Ray which is one of those " We didn`t do much " poor efforts. You can get it better but the 8mm in those shots looks lovely.

What was that projected with out of interest please Oemer ?

It would be interesting, if we can compare you print to my print.
As you can see, we live in the same town. I think we never met us?

I run this print with a Elmo GS1200, (1.0 Lens).
I never watched the blueray of Once upon a time in the west, but it is allways a matter of the original source and for all S8 prints they used the same negative and this is definitely made from a no technicolor print and as abouve mentioned, I have a incomplate Technicolor print, unfortunately the last reel is missing, but I can tell you, the S8 print is very sharp, but if you see the scenes filmed in Monument Valley in technicolor and 35mm, this can´t be never the same on Super 8 or 16mm.

Hi again,
I bought this feature 4 years ago and will try to make pics of the "interesting parts"!
I know too little collectors in Berlin,
although my collection is huge.
And You can still make a lot of people happy with Super-8-features.
When I do screenings the audience is always speechless...
My screen is 5 metres wide, so a scope screening like "Titanic", "Circus World", Ben Hur" or "Once Upon A Time In The West" is... Wow!
