I have here a rarity that I completely forgot I had, but it's up for sale now. I bought this from a super 8 collector some years ago and he said that this had been used by Derann films to promote they're Disney releases.
I received this info from Adrian Winchester regarding this neat little film ...
" I can't say with absolute certainty that I've seen the actual item you have - if I did it was probably over 20 years ago - but it sounds dinner credible so I'd have no reason to doubt what the person who sold it to you said. It's unfortunate if there's no information on the box.
It's not really the sort of item that would be screened at the BFCC or even at the Sunday convention at Blackpool, but it is something that I could imagine seeing at the Saturday night dinner film show at Blackpool.
The film show in the great days of the 80s and 90s would be where Derek would reveal some new releases for the first time, and there would be limited time if the show was about 45 minis. If you haven't tried listening to both tracks, I'd give it a try as there's a very slight chance that Derek might have recorded some words of introduction on this, as he would occasionally do something like that.
I think you could reasonably use words such as "Believed to have been shown at the Blackball dinner film show.
Regards, Adrian "
The box that it came in was just a generic white box with a photo-copied "Silly Symphony" image taped to it.
I'll check the balance track to see if there IS actually something recorded at the beginning, I've never actually inspected that track before!

Hello, have an extra day this week with a little extra time for forums!
I think Micheal has done me a good service (something unexpected), as I think I might have made a possible mistake.
I contacted Adrian Winchester, as I thought he had been an employee of Derann films, but unless he e-mails back and says that he was, I think I got him confused with Adrian Simmonds (I was just looking back at a "ask.com" listing of employees and sure enough, Adrian Simmonds).
Certainly my mistake. If it turns out that Adrian Winchester wasn't an employee, could someone please send me Adrian Simmonds e-mail address, if possible, as I would like to do further verification on this reel.
I don't see why the person I bought it from would lie (and it wouldn't make sense to destroy three perfectly good "Silly Symphonies" to make this little reel, as three complete cartoons are worth far more than a promo reel), so I'm fairly sure that it is genuine ...
' but I would appreciate having Adrian Simmonds e-mail address, if possible, or perhaps Gary Brocklehurst (I know HE worked there), e-mail address.
My e-mail address is ...
toac2001@hotmail.com
I thank you for your time. Thanks Micheal, by the way, as I don't want to give mis-information. Love to correct it.

Derek's son Adrian Simmonds became managing director of Derann following his father's premature demise.
I don't think trying to contact Adrian over this matter will be of any real consequence.
Adrian did all he could to keep Derann going, promoting the Audio / Visual side with video, etc. But I doubt that he could help with super 8 enquires.
Gary was always the "chirpy chap" of the gang, and well worth trying to contact, but, again, I doubt he will remember specifics regarding something shown so long ago.
Maybe the best bet would be Ged Jones, but, alas, I wouldn't know how to contact him; such a shame that he isn't a member of the forums as his knowledge would be highly sought after.
I think, Osi, that you have a few minutes of film which are just that mate.
