Hey Folks!

It's my seasonal (literally) and yearly search for a super 8 optical sound print of "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" (1974)

Must have good color! Thanks for looking

OK - here's an answer -- sorry, I don't have a print of that or know where to find one.

Hello Osi

Shift your search to a 16mm print and I reckon you will find one, but finding a low fade super 8 optical sound on this title I would say is very unlikely.

Joe - I always read your wants posts and would of course respond if I have any for sale. Also it is my understanding you don't use PayPal so with respect even if I could help you we would not be able to trade together.

Joe Caruso: The comment you have made more than once about us never responding hurts; I have been reading your want lists for years and since I actually gave you a film you wanted, this makes me feel unappreciated. I once referred Osi to the source of a Ritz Bros. film he was seeking, so you can't say we never respond.

Hi all

I agree Paul.

People do read - but ultimately can only respond if they have the goods mentioned in order to sell or trade, simple as. What is the issue??

As for Osi and his quest for Grizzle Adams....everyone and his "uncle" knows that you look for this title...why the constant reminder?? [Roll Eyes]

Osi, I had a thought that you must have already considered, but, have you tried contacting TGM, the producer of the GA DVD set? I have the full set here with their contact i believe...
Maybe they can tell you where they got the copy that they used for making the DVD and maybe it could be a lead to a potential owner who may sell... However, i am unsure of the quality of the film myself. I find the volume 1 set is worse in colour quality than vol 2, but it may be my old tv...we just upgraded to an LG smart tv, and i haven't tried again on there yet.
Cheers,
Matt
PS: Osi, if you keep posting like this, you are going to find Mr. Haggarty at your doorstep one day...probably sporting a super 8 camera and film and he will say "Here Osi, take a darned movie of me already will ya... he hee.....
PSS: Here is the contact info i have for TMG:

Timeless Media Group put out the series, but not the original 1974 film ...

I remind folks every once in awhile, as we do have occasional new members and they haven't heard my request for this title and who knows, maybe one of the "newbies, might just have it.

Shorty meant nothing wrong is his post ... He's one of the great ones on here and would never insult a single person. His character is impeccable ...

If I can find a low fade LPP or otherwise 16MM print of this title, I'll certainly snap it up. I ran into one from a library, and it had truly mint condition color like I've never seen before, absolutely beautiful, but it was also scratched to hell (I mean, big deep green scratches!), otherwise, I would have ended my search and just sent the 16MM to Germany, had a negative made and made at least a few super 8 copies, (two for me alone!)

Lastly, I actually don't expect to find a low fade film stock print of this. my hope is to find a print on the same stock as the one I already have, but having been stored in the best possible conditions ... in a nice, cool, dry basement for the last 40 years! Hey, it is entirely possible, as I have found some other mid 70's super 8 opticals, after long search, in pristine condition and very good color ...

but it takes a heck of a long time!

Hi Osi,
Sorry, I meant to say to try perhaps hunting Goodtimes Home Video for the 1974 film...if they even exist.
I watched it recently on DVD but it was a video burn from GHV videotape version. TMG is for the series only as you mention and also for a couple of the after series movies.
Cheers,
Matt

I welcome Osi's "Grizzly" posts, they are a tradition, kind of like the leaves changing every Fall! (-but without all the raking!)

I hope he finds the thing and have tried to help, but every time I've E-mailed him an auction he's responded "Thanks, but I've already had that print!"

-This is a man on a serious quest!

CineSea had better never happen on April 1st or Claus' picture thread will contain one of a table full of mint Grizzly Adamses, bent under their weight and marked "Take Them: Free!" and captioned "It's a shame nobody wanted them". [Smile]

24 hours and 2,000 miles later, there's poor Osi neck deep in the Ocean Holiday's dumpster...

"What the hell are you doing?"
"I'm looking for Grizzly Adams!"
"...in NEW JERSEY?!!"

-but seriously folks, If one ever did show up there, Osi's inbox would become very active, very quickly. I'd like to own the film too, but I wouldn't have the heart to buy it for myself.

It would certainly bump whatever was the duly elected Friday Night Feature off screen: when you've found the Ark of the Covenant, it's natural the Congregation will want a look!

Yeah, it's funny, most of the prints that show up on ebay have been ones I have either already owned, or I can tell that they are worse color in general.

Funny thing, Dan Haggerty was part of a convention thingy that was just 30 minutes away from me house just a few weeks back!

Osi,

Do you have a print of When then North Wind Blows?

This is kind of the proto-Grizzly Adams: Dan Haggerty was hired as an animal trainer and between the fact that he impressed the producers and the budget was kind of thin(1), he got a pretty decent acting part and that was the beginning of his acting career.

The basic story is the same too: some guy gets falsely accused of murder and seeks refuge in the wilderness with some scary, large predatory mammal who befriends him!

I've had my print about 10 years now and it's getting a little too faded to ignore it. It's a real shame: the scenery in this movie is spectacular and it's a loss for the color not to be good.

(1) It's kind of fun to read the credits for this movie: the majority of the cast have behind the scenes jobs too!

Well, who knows Shorty, he's not doing that much these days, except this ...

Oh, Dan! What would "Ben" think? [Big Grin]

The fun part is the only televised smoking advertisements that are currently illegal are for products containing tobacco.

With the legalization of marijuana in many states you could see commercials like this for real!

(The smart TV station advertises delivery pizza about 15 minutes later! "Operators are standing by!")

Easy commercial to write too: Whatever happens you just end it in "....whuh?"

-30 seconds of a college age kid in jeans and a sweatshirt rolling around on the floor laughing uncontrollably pretty much covers it!
