Hello everybody. I am new to the forum but not too collecting movies. In the eighties and early nineties I enjoyed the super 8 hobby. My first projector was a Bauer T181 duoplay. Later I bought a GS1200. As I prefer features and featurettes, I bought films like ”Broadway Danny Rose” with optical sound and outstanding picture quality, City Heat and a few others, but I soon realised that all the new titles from Derann that I wanted, was out of my economical reach.
Later I sold my films and my GS (still kicking my self for that one!).

Last year I bought a Elmo ST1200, mostly because I would like to project my family movies. Because the older part of my home movies is standard 8, I also bought a Bolex 8-15. Wonderfull
high quality projectors, both of them.

I dont think I will be collecting much in super 8, but I would love to have a couple of features to project, like ”The Dambusters”, ”Whisky Galore” or ”The smallest show on earth” – all Derann prints.

Anyway, its most enjoyable to follow the forum.

Thanks,
Martin.

Welcome Martin, like yourself at the actual time of release, I too found many of the wonderful new feature releases from Derann to be out of reach for myself at that financially demanding and extremely busy period of my life.

I have tried playing catch up ever since returning back to the hobby a good few years back now.
I hope you may well too, develop a similar interest that may see you wanting to pursue this hobby further.

It's still a fascinating hobby with many fine items still out there in circulation at this present time.
It can be an expensive pastime, but as you already know, it always was!

I hope your lifestyle today in this era, now permits you to seek out all of the items your heart has always desired.

I wish you well with your initial searches and hope when you do finally find these films, you love viewing them to the same intensity and depth of feeling as many of us here still feel to this day when doing the same with our own prints.

A warm welcome there Martin you have joined the best forum with the best bunch of fellow collectors with loads of knowledge to share and give you sound advice.

As for Derann features you mention Whisky Galore and Smallest Show On Earth i am fortunate to own these titles in my collection.
I also have them on superior 16mm prints.

I still find the price of the Derann features out of reach for
my pocket. [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]

Hello Martin, you'l love it here. And feature films can still be bought for very reasonable prices from the dealers, namely, (off the top of my head), Barry @ Independent 8, Paul Foster, Classic Home Cinema & The Reel image over in the USA & also Ian o Reilly of Perrys Movies. You dont have to pay top dollar all the time [Wink]
