Hello all. I recently acquired a lot from an auction house that was full of many strange and wonderful things. Had some great pickups like The Music Box, a complete Red Fox feature of The Santa Fe Trail, Battlestar Galactica etc. And it had some bizarre home movies, 3 Spanish copies of Mickey's First 50 years, and Reels 2, 4, and 5 (of 5) from Escape From Alcatraz.

So I was curious to know if anyone out there had one or both odd reels. I know it's a long shot, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Dave, I found myself in a similar situation when I acquired parts 2, 3 and 4 of The African Queen. I set out on a hunt for part 1 but as you ask, what are the odds? In my case I did receive a message from an eBay seller auctioning the full feature, albeit fading towards red, for a very reasonable price. Seeing the message from out of the blue made my day, completed my feature, and when all is said and done you lose nothing by posting here on the forum. It's helped me; now I hope it will work out for you.
Best of luck, EFA is a Classic Clint film.

You do sometimes get lucky. Years ago I bought Doctor In Distress a 4x400ft release in colour. One reel was missing reel two or three I think. The price was really good, then a few weeks later the missing reel was for sale again at a great price, but a different dealer. I have no idea who released the film on 8mm (might have been Collectors Club?).

All I can think is it was at the time super 8 was at its lowest and a lab was closing and the stuff was auctioned off.

I love the smell of film in the morning.
