Hi all, I'm brand new to the forum and just getting back into collecting after being away from it for many, many years. My dad's collection was sold off by my sister a long time ago and now I'm trying to replace many of the films he bought for me.

I'm interested only in flat sound digests and cutdowns with minimal or, if I'm really lucky, no red. This is quite a list and, being new here, I hope I'm not throwing too much out there at one time but I've had an extraordinarily hard time finding decent prints of any of these, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. I've included the versions and lengths that I know about, if there are any others please feel free to let me know. Anyway, here's the list:

The Car 1x400'
Superman 1x400'
Alien 1x400'
The Exorcist 1x400'
Close Encounters 1x400'
The Birds 1x400'
Psycho 1x400'
Jaws 2 1x400'
Battlestar Galactica 2x400'
When Worlds Collide 2x400'
Westworld 3x400'?
The French Connection 1x400'
Star Wars Parts 1 & 2 (400' each) edited in order if possible
Logan's Run 1x400'
Carrie 2x400'
War of The Worlds - any color sound version
Duel 1x400'
Raise The Titanic 2x400'
The China Syndrome 1x400'
Capricorn One 1x600'
Phantasm 1x400'
Assault on Precinct 13 1x600'
The Rescuers - both extracts on one reel
Cinderella - both extracts on one reel
The Omen 1x400'

If Poltergeist or The Fog are available in digest form, I would like to acquire those also but from what I can gather, they were only available full length. I would also be interested in any horror/scifi digests from 1982 onward (E.T., The Terminator, Flash Gordon, Blade Runner, The Thing, etc) but I can't really find any information on if digests were even produced after 1981.

I can be reached here or at dacfilmsmd@gmail.com. Looking forward to being part of the forums.

The Fog was available as a 600ft digest, just that it was released a little while after the feature as Derann had trouble getting a suitable print to edit

Dave,
welcome to the forum.
I think You should look for all these titles at eBay.
Many of the titles on Your list are much sought after,
but You can find a lot of them at eBay on reasonable prices.
Some people are selling small collections.
It’s always a good idea to look at all the eBay sites: eBay.de, ebay.it, ebay.fr., etc.

Hello David,
A good list there, a few i would like also, Some of the titles will be very difficult, if not impossible, to find without any degree of fade now, mainly the U8 titles, but good luck. [Wink]

Thanks for the responses, seeking these films out is going to be great fun, I think. Oliver, I hadn't even thought about checking the overseas eBay sites (I'm in the US) so thanks for that. There are a number of films on my list up for auction on the UK site so I'm going to take a closer look at those.

Tom, on the U8 titles is it because of the film stock used at the time? I recently acquired a Raiders of The Lost Ark digest with gorgeous color and that's the second one I've seen so the stock they used on that one must have been better? I'm learning all of this as I go.

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the 8mm Forum!

A guy from Maryland (-that guy being you!) needs to know there is a film collector's convention in Wildwood, New Jersey.

You missed one last weekend, but there is another in October.

You never know: you may find some of your list there.

Dave, many of the U8 films are fading due to the stock, however,i am also well informed by Barry of Indi 8 films, that a few of the titles were also reprinted in there later years on LPP stock, these are rare but do come up and are first class prints, it's just trying to find them.
I myself have the U8 2 x 400ft print of Xanado, reviewed here which is on low fade stock. The majority of this title are either red or well on the way to it. [Wink]
As far as i know Raiders was a marketing release.

Hey Steve and thanks! Glad to be here. Last weekend?! Well, that's me all over, a week late and a dollar short. I will definitely look out for the one in October, thanks for the heads up.

Tom, gotcha, that's good to know. Xanadu!! I think I'm one of the 10 people who paid to see it in the theater. That one's a keeper and it looks great.

And I got an email list today from Classic Home Cinema, looks like they have some of the titles I want so hopefully that will be a good resource in the future. Thanks for being so helpful, gentlemen, I sincerely appreciate it.

Jim - I just bought a projector from Steve! We've had many lively conversations. I sent him the list about a month ago, haven't heard anything though.

Burton - Thank you so much. I emailed Phil about those and found a few more on his list I didn't even know I wanted [Eek!] I've put Elvis and Logan's Run on my watch list along with a bunch of others I found on the UK site.
