Ide like to get a splicer so I can put on leaders, string together previews, fix breaks, etc. I have no experience in this area so Ide like to know whats out there for an amateur that will get the job done without going over the wall into high-end equipment.

Nic,
I have a nice, universal 3 way splicer. It's heavy duty for STD 8, Super 8, and 16mm. You can use either press tape or cement with it, I'll take $12.00 for it. I prefer press-tapes when needed but the rest of the time I use a little scotch tape without taping over the perforations.

Here is a tutorial in splicing. The Art of Splicing

Fuji has a great Super 8 Splicer. Easy to use and the tape won't interfere with the sound stripe...Contact Steve Osborne of the Reel Image. He has a good stock of these splicers...937-296-9036 (leave a message, he will get back to you) tell him Vincent sent you...
