Joe, I did exactly what you suggest some years ago on a Eumig lens from an 824. I smoothed off what was left from the broken "pip" with a file, then drilled a small hole where the centre of it had been, being careful not to let swarf enter the lens barrel, tapped the hole and fitted a NYLON screw.This was easily cut to length and shaped to match the original pip. (If I remember right, I only needed to clean the end, the screw diameter ran happily in the adjuster track). The only thing to watch was not to let the screw protrude into the barrel, otherwise it would inhibit the zoom adjustment. Martin
