I inherited an Elmo ST-800 sound projector a number of years ago. It worked very nicely then but, now it has developed a few issues after sitting in the box for some years:
  • the belt driving the take up reel has stretched and does not transmit sufficient power to wind film
  • the flywheel does not seem to spin. Film runs through the projector just fine. (maybe this is normal, IDK)
  • the lamp does not light, even after trying a second bulb.
To see the condition of the machine, please take a look at these photos and videos I would love to fix it but, I don't have the time. If this would be a worthwhile project or useful as spare parts for you or someone you know, please send me a direct message or email dan.liszewski@gmail.com. I'm asking $60 USD + shipping. Thank you!

These are all very easy fixes and a possible great deal for someone. It looks like it is in EXCELLENT condition. The first 2 issues will go away with new belts, the last with a new bulb...Problem is someone has to fix it to find out if any other issues exist(scratch paths, etc...).

One can also buy belts and a bulb from ebay for under $40 for all, and then sale for at least $180-$250 depending on shape...

If you lived closer i would grab this and fix it, but i already have one of these as well. Good luck with the sale!

Hey Matt - Thank you for the feedback and info! I do have some experience working on precision machinery. I might post questions re: proper testing elsewhere on this forum. Maybe I'll sell this one to myself! Until then, it's here for sale.

Dan...if I was forced to only have one projector... it would be the Elmo ST800. I have two of these and I concur with Matthew that the issues you see appear to be minor. I wouldn't let it go right away. It's a great projector.

I couldn't tell from your videos, but although I saw the take-up reel moving...was there film running thru the projector? The fly wheel will only turn when film is running thru it.

Wow, Dan, that is a GOOD price for this machine! I work on all Elmo's super 8 sound only! But this machine was not one of my favourite! They did have problems! Good luck! Leon.

I've come across many ST 800 over the years and I am with Leon. Not my fav., either. Many sound problems as opposed to the ST 1200 or 600. I have one that is magnetic and optical sound but has a hum when you turn the volume on and gets louder as you increase.
