As a relatively new collector to 16mm i just wanted to ask what may be a scilly question, i wont getting that many of these films but i want to ensure i dont put too much stress on the bottom ones, i know they need to be laid flat but how many films do you boys and girls say would be a reasonable stack to store them please, as you can see i have spread mine out to what i feel is correct but i have seen some images where they are stacked 10 or more.

My 16mm features live on steel racks, arranged for each shelf to hold twelve single spools in, usually, cardboard boxes. Of course, stored horizontally.

If one has a lot of titles wouldn’t it be easier to store them vertically for easier access? How did tv stations store entire seasons of series?

i did wonder about this but,(i could be wrong here),i have read that with 16mm films the weight of the film can cause sagging, hence why ive laid them flat
