Upon receiving my first Elmo 16CL, I found the sound was so super low, something you almost cannot hear.

Checking on Elmo's manual operation it says:

 -

I pulled the lens and clean it. It create a bit louder sound, where I can now hear it. But still it is low.

 -

I pulled it out, and it seems the lens has small crack.

Where can I buy replacement for this?

If I cannot find the replacement, is there a way to fix this lens?

ps: there is a video on youtube of similar problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vl3E2bVV6M

He says:

quote:
This is my 16mm Elmo projector. The sound and rewind system stopped working and continues to stop as I replace the amplifier fuse; they keep burning out. I called the company and they said its either a bad transformer or a bad diode. I'm no electrician! A guy told me that the Elmo projector uses a solar cell, so I just soldered a cord I made from radio shack parts onto it and plugged it into a microphone input. It sounds pretty good!!
What he has soldered and to where?

thanks,

The lens has to be calibrated using a special audio film. The hight and the direction of the lens is very important for adjusting the quality of the sound and should be done by an expert. I had a similar problem with a projector I bought. Try pushing up on the film like I did in this video to see if the sound improves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5FJlIcQc7s

I eventually improved the volume by adjusting the buzz track and the lens positioning. The film was not positioned in line with the lamp.

I was able to get my sound level loud again myself, but eventually sent it off to have the lens calibrated. Sounds great now.

Thanks Janice,

There is a small possibility I used a wrong bulb (BAK) which supposed to be BRK.

I just bought a BRK and hopefully it will bring louder sound..

I have just changed the exciter to BRK and the sound is still small.

Now where can I buy the sound lens, it seems this is not a very common item. Any idea?
