Details for the upcoming CineSea convention (which has tons of both 16mm & 8mm films for sale/trade) can be found here.

What a lonely little thread. I thought I'd come and keep it company by saying that the Cinesea weekends are the BEST weekends of the year!!! Anyone into actual film...movies, projectors, etc....should attend , especially if they are but a few hours away.

I swear I am cursed when it comes to Cinesea. Every one that has passed since I became aware of it, I had to miss for one reason or another. This spring is no exception -- birthday party for one of my daughter's friends on Saturday (about an hour away in the opposite direction of Cinesea). And they are good friends of ours as well. And Sunday is opening day for the organization that she just signed up for T-ball (they have a parade as well). [Mad] [Mad] [Mad]

Guess I'll have to cross my fingers for the fall [Frown]

Dumb question, but does anyone get there on Thursday? Just thinking maybe I could head down and get myself a room for one night, stay Thursday night and then leave late Friday night after meeting everyone (2 hour ride home). I just didn't want to come down on Friday as doing a 4 hour round trip in one day is going to be brutal.

David,

That's a great question! There are a number of us who will be arriving on Thursday afternoon to meet up, get dinner and slowly (very slowly!) start setting up. It would be terrific if you could join us.

Please do it! And if you plan to attend, definitely take part in choosing the Friday Night Feature. I'll be posting about that today.

I'd like to do the Thursday option some day myself. Wildwood is kind of mellow in the off season: a day to relax and enjoy the place before the main event would sit well about now!

(-but for now it's kind of bad parenting to blow off two days of high school just to ride bikes on the boardwalk! What if he becomes a doctor and makes a fatal blunder because he missed Bio Lab?!! "Of COURSE I nicked the artery! I never did the FROG lab!")

T-minus 38 days! [Big Grin]

Finalizing a few things on my end but looks like I will be reserving a room for Thursday night (arriving mid-day Thursday), and staying all day/night Friday (until the Friday night movie is over, anyway). Going to be a tiring Saturday after driving home late Friday night (and then having to drive another hour for a kids party Sat. afternoon) but I'm actually excited to finally make it to a Cinesea event! [Big Grin] (Besides....I can't miss out on getting some Mack's Pizza and Curly's Fries on the boardwalk!!)

Couple of questions: Any negative thoughts to me bringing popcorn for Friday night's movie? I have an industrial machine (from an United Artists theatre) and can pop a few 4' high bags. I also have the popcorn cups to go with it. Just a thought if anyone likes the idea.

Also, Doug, if you'd like to update the banner you use for the group shot (or anything else sign related) drop me a private message and I'll give you my company email address. Be happy to donate some items from my company for the event [Smile]

Well it's official -- I will be at Cinesea this April!!

(Pauses for applause.....hears nothing but crickets. Continues on).

Just made my reservation and I'm all set. Will only be there Thursday day/night, and Friday day/night (leaving late Friday after the movie) but looking forward to meeting everyone! Also looking forward to seeing just how "good" Super 8 looks when projected, as my only experience has been with 16mm.

As I mentioned to Doug, I will also be bringing fresh popped popcorn as well, along with "popcorn cups". See attached picture (stolen from the internet/items not to scale). The popcorn bags are about 38" high (huge!) and the cups are about the same size as a medium bag in a movie theatre. I'm bringing plenty of both [Big Grin]

Now I just need to find a decent mug shot of myself so people know what I look like ahead of time! Also going to throw my hat in the ring for a suggestion for the Friday night movie.

See everyone in about a month!!

Hi David! Can't wait to meet you in person. And thanks, in advance, for bringing the popcorn!

I'm bring the cake! :-)

Cake? How did you know my birthday was that weekend? (Ok ok, my birthday is actually May 2nd, and I am certain the cake has nothing to do with my birthday, but I had to try and make a connection between the two) [Razz]

But cake sounds good!! I have a feeling between eating Mack's Pizza on the boardwalk (one of my favorites), cake, popcorn, and anything else, I'm going to need to do some serious walking to keep the pounds off [Eek!]

BTW, looking forward to meeting you too!! [Cool]
