Don't know what happened to the colour, but someone is glad to have this.

I noticed that too.
I guess the fact it's a scope, original uncut print played a factor but the colours are very unattractive, to me anyway.
Someone wanted that film.

$3,350.00 for a (beyond recognition) faded Star Wars print? [Eek!]

ฺBut between this insanely faded unaltered Star Wars vs crisp&clear BluRay Star Wars with all of those manipulation/abusion made to this film,a tough choice then. [Roll Eyes]

Once again it's a buyer's market that dictated the final price .
As will be with Lou Franchetti's ALIENS 16mm print .

Pretty obvious the bidders / buyers don't think they are loony .

The most painful thing for me about the price of the Star Wars print is that I wasn't in a position to cunningly remove the 16mm scope print that was recently in Graham Ritchie's bin!! If you look at the photos from that thread, it appeared to have more colour than the print just sold, even if it was mostly red!

Well, i guess the buyer will be happy. Odd thing is, there so many copies of this made. They come up here snd there on both 16 and 8mm, (8mm's usually having great colours, scope and stereo), yet theirs still a market for all conditions of this titles. Wish i bought ten now when it was released.
And you can me what you want, i still think its lunacy to pay thousands for faded film. It's not the only way to project this title. [Wink] Just my opinion, i assume im entitled to it [Big Grin] [Wink]

Graham - Your resolve is certainly beyond question, especially if you didn't experience any twinges of regret in relation to the sum you could have potentially received for your print!

Looking again at the listing, it's interesting to note that four people bid ay least $945, but 'only' two were willing to bid at least $3,300. In fact the bid history indicates an extra bid from the winner that shows he was willing to pay more than $3,350!

No regrets Adrian....to me its never been about money, but more about enjoying the hobby of film collecting and in particular keeping up a certain standard of film and film projection that does not look to others that I am completely crazy [Smile]

People with deep pockets are not loony, considering that before Gary got 3800 for a faded Star Wars this price shouldn't be a surprise. Jee I wish I was a sugar daddy and can spend $$$ on film.

Ok, for those offended let me refraze,
im not calling people with deep pockets looneys! I think its looney to pay that much for a faded film. Its not like star wars is rare. I know this one is 16mm but when this title comes up for sale on super 8,it is also the original 1977 version untouched by any CGI. When it does surface most of them are very good prints with excellent colours. They usually go for anything from 800 to 1800. Wether people have deep pockets, big accounts or whatever is irrelevent. Im talking about the price a faded film seems to fetch. No dealers could command that price. BUT, well done to the seller.

It's known that George Lucas doesn't approve of the original versions still being in circulation, so perhaps he's buying some of these prints! [Smile]

I agree Dave, I also have the original version on Laserdisc and it would be nice to meet George. I would just give it to him though especially if he came to collect it! [Smile] I'll keep my super 8 feature though.
