Are you, like me, continuing to receive invitations via email from people who are completely unknown to you to join them on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is a business-orientated social networking with more than 259 million members worldwide, in the UK it has 14 million users.
What puzzles me is how these unknown people have my email address. I did some research via the Internet and have discovered that various LinkedIn members themselves are receiving replies from people they do not know.
It appears that LinkedIn management are taking advantage of knowing email addresses taken from their members' contacts and they are literally trying to "drum up new members".
As the emails arrive I just delete them, but the sender doesn't give up quickly but continually I receive reminders "xxxx is still waiting to hear from you".
I don't want to contact LinkedIn as this will certainly provide confirmation of my email address. I suppose it is just something to live with.

I actually joined Linkedin, mainly after doing a A4E self employment course. I must admit I can't see the point of it. It never has created any work for me.
Facebook I signed-up too, but they seem to even want your inside leg measurement. Very rarely use this one. Although it does have one use we can see my wife's family over in Thailand when they put photo's on. It's also good to see our rubber trees growing ever few months.
I get the same messages as you Maurice, from both of them. I don't trust them with my personal information.

Maurice
I got news for you...they all ready have your email. Just do as Jean suggests but you can also block the domain. Right click on email address and you will see options.

Maurice. Check to see if they really are from Linkedin. I keep getting the from BT Internet telling me my account needs verifying, also the same from banks.
When you hover over the links which might say (www.btinternet.com) but when you put your mouse over the link it could say (www.wehaveyourlogin.com) What I mean is it takes you to rip off site.
I use Thunderbird for my e-mail this lets you tag messages as spam (blame Monty Python) it takes a while, but it does work.

Gentlemen Many thanks for your kind suggestions, I never click on anything which I might consider suspect. Next time one of these arrives I will re-direct it to my spam store, at least this should stop my iPhone receiving them.

What JM's suggestion can be tried. But some unwanted emails are changing their address every time. So it will not work.
The other solution is to filter by "word" (remember Derann's filter to "always contain DFS on subject"?). But for this time you ask server to filter any email contains "Linkedin".
The bad side is your friend email has this word will be also filtered out.

Seriously, guys, LinkedIn is a reputable company and you can ask them to unsubscribe and they'll actually do it. That's one significant difference between "knowns" and spammers.
