I was pretty close friends with Theo back in the late 80's. I put him on TV on a show I was producing and we hit it off. He exposed me for the first time to a high end home theater set-up and I was hooked from then on. At the time, he owned a townhouse in Brooklyn and had converted the basement into an elaborate art deco theater. He was one of the first film buffs to really create an overt-the-top atmosphere like that. He dabbled in film a little bit, mostly 16mm (I used to bring prints over to watch at his place) but he had no 8mm. We lost touch and then he started building theaters in many celebrity homes and became very successful. There is a great coffee table book of his work and it really is breathtaking. I saw him on a cable show about home theaters last week and I was thinking of getting back in touch with him... Anyway, that's what I remember about Theo.
