Hello to all

Having just aquired a new laptop that is Wireless - G LAN equipped, I would like to know what that means. I have heard the term "WIFI" before but do not know where to begin. If I am correct it has something to do with "hot spots" and "free internet access?"

I have an indicator light that has something to do with this, but trying to search the net comes up dead, as if a connection is not established.

The computer is Acer Aspire Laptop AS-3690 running XP sevice pack 2 @ 1.5 ghtz and 512K-ram with approx 55GB hard drice available space. It has a slot for a card, but the wireless card does not exist I think I have to buy it.

This pc does work just fine when I plug in the cell phone for broadband connection via usb cable (Verizon Mobile Office Kit).

Please help and if possible don't get too technical on me. :-)

Thanks
