Here in the UK AOL has been taken over by the Carphone Warehouse and all members are having to be "Upgraded" to their "New Improved Network" , well after receiving the new 9.0VR CD it's taken me 2 1/2 hours and 3 phone calls to the AOL technical line (Somewhere in India) to get back to an OK set up. Firstly you have to completely uninstall whatever version of AOL you have, this takes a few minutes, then after restarting the computer, the fun begins. I've got a feeling I might be one of the first to be doing this, as I was passed from one helper to another (more senior I suppose) who new about the new set ups. But be warned it's not straight forward, as I then had trouble entering my passwords, and when that was sorted out, I had what they called an Authentiaction failure, this led to the 3rd call, which meant I had to make a new connection manually to the internet, oh what fun. Anyway (I'm now crossing my fingers, toes, you name it) I hope this has sorted things out, as I have had a lot of trouble since the takeover of actually getting connected, and it seems it's the transfer from one network to another that's causing the most problems (AOL worldwide to AOL-Carphone Warehouse UK). I'm writing this to warn UK AOL members on the Forum of the trials and tribulations I've been through tonight, as they have to go through it as well, as a pop up is coming up on the normal AOL 9.0 that you have to order the new CD, so good luck, you're going to need it.

You guys might want to try AOL not through it's own software but through webmail based, such as Netscape or Mozilla Firefox. Over here in the USA the AOL software is also a pain in the ass. Many things can be said about it. I find webmail aol access to be far superb than using their own software. Since I always check for email anyways, I don't need to hear the voice telling me something I already suspect. And instead of "good bye" when I disconnect, I think of it as good riddance!
I hate the popups, small windows, voice announcements, locked links, I also hate having to drag and drop to enlarge a window to full screen. If you simply click maximize, as soon as you go to another window the maximized one shrinks back down. Only when you drag and drop to expand, then click remember window size and position from the pull down menu, does it stay that way all the time.
Steve Case and Time/Warner can KMA and I still would tell them how much I hate it. I'd also tell them I hate the fact they'd be KMA if they even tried LOL
It's Mozilla Firefox or I don't go on the web. Period.
