It has been estimated that the average Briton walks 900 miles a year. Research also shows that the average Briton drinks 22 gallons of alcohol a year.

This suggest that Britons achieve about 41 miles per gallon.

I wonder how this compares with other nations? [Big Grin]

The average Norwegian consumes 6 litres (1.31 imperial gallons) every year, but walks an average of 3500 kilometres every year, which equals to 2175 miles! That's 1660 miles to the gallon ;-) We are a fuel efficient people!

Let's see...

An acre is 43,560 square feet so 1.5 acres is 65,340 square feet.

If you stretch that area out in a strip 18" wide you get a path length of 43,560 linear feet or 8.25 miles per cutting (more depending on the overlap.)

Is that knackered enough for you? [Big Grin]

(Jeeze!: that's sounding like almost three hours work!)

Steve,if you can cut my grounds in three hours, I'll give you my
film collection. Not being clever, but somewhere along the line, the
maths has gone to cock, it takes a lot longer than that, negotiating trees etc. and twice a week, weather permitting, thats
a fair bit of milage.Arizona sounds fine at this time of year for me,
Steve book me a flight.

I'm just allowing for the three MPH the average adult can walk and the width of the mower and the square footage. It should take you three hours to cut the grass, but then comes everything else!

Just re worked my figures. The other Thursday I picked my mate up and came over to Penistone, we walked down to 'The Bridge' went on the 'Tetley's' £1.20 pint x 4 walted to 'Wentworth' $2.85 x 2 then up to 'Spread Eagle' 'Farmers Blonde' 6 x £3.10 + 'John Smiths' £2.80 Finished of with a double JD. Although I don't remember that one.

The total is about 3 miles, although at the later stages the last half mile was more like 1.5 miles.

So my mileage 3 miles to a gallon [Big Grin]

Watch the new series of 'Top Gear' they were videoing in Penistone, bet they make fun of Penistone [Razz] Mind you they are three dickheads themselves.

Went to take photo thinking Aston Martin, Lamborghini, what were they in, a bloody white TRANSIT van. Went back to beer.

If we are talking Lancashire we eat 3 pie and peas a week, walk 200 yards to the nearest pub and watch far too many Super 8 films. Had to get that in! For me you can’t beat a good walk around the beautiful Lanc’s countryside and canal walks which are 127 miles long.

But when I went to School in London it was Pie and Eel the favourite with plenty of liquor on which takes you back a bit. Best shop left serving that is at Shepherds bush by the way.

And my 2-stroke Vespa does about 90 miles for £6 and you can fit a Eumig box on the back seat for mobile film screenings.

Hi Lee

The screen arrives [Big Grin]

 -

The films are here [Razz]

 -

And finally the audience are here
[Smile]

 -

In Yorkshire (God's Own Country) we eat SIX pie and pea's a week, walk 400 yards to the nearest pub and watch far too many Super 8 films and 16mm. Although you'll beat me on that one, think you have 35mm too. We then lick road dry with tongue, and walk home to our shoe box. Agree you can’t beat a good walk around the beautiful North of England countryside and canal walks.
